How To Seal Refrigeration Systems To Prevent Leaks

Start preventing leaks today. Save our atmosphere!Being involved with refrigeration we are constantly being reminded about the need for systems to be completely sealed. Not only is this better for our atmosphere, but it allows the system to be able to run, theoretically, forever — if there were such a compressor that could do the job.

After all the piping and fittings are soldered or welded in any system, one should use Liqui-Vac high vacuum sealant (learn more) to ensure any chance of leak is eliminated. A vacuum should be pulled to make sure the system is tight. If it’s not, a savvy service technician should use a form of leak detection, be it an electronic refrigerant leak detector (learn more), ultrasonic refrigerant leak detector (learn more), or a simple to use leak-detection fluid called Leak-Tec (learn more).

Once the leak is found and repaired, Liqui-Vac high vacuum sealant (learn more) should be placed on it to ensure that there definitely won’t be a leak the next time the system is pulled down into a vacuum.

All of these steps should be taken to ensure the highest efficiency possible and to prevent any more refrigerant from entering our atmosphere. This will save on energy costs, maintenance costs, and ensure that refrigerant stays in any given system where it is meant to be.
